The concept of business agility has been very popular lately.
Business Agility means ability of a company to transform its products, services, and operations in such a way that more customers demand are met.
The agile company usually enjoys an advantage over the competition.
There is an inertia in each company "to run things without change". There is a resistance to change.
Agility is difficult to achieve.
Fighting inertia also means re-engineering the business processes, therefore affecting the way things are currently running (status-quo) .
Companies find it a hard way that the status quo is no way to run a business.
Even implementing business software like SAP is sometimes seen as a way of disrupting the status quo.
Increasing business agility means reduction in decision-making delays.
Reduction in decision-making delays means:
Better and faster customer relationship management
More effective and less expensive supply chain management
Increased transparency and compliance relative to regulations
A better balance between cost and risk
Measurable return on investment (ROI) on projects
Business roadmap is a path to develop business process such that business vision is materialized.
Agility should be an important consideration in a business roadmap.
A business could only be agile if business processes permits agility.
SAP brings in agility to the table by enabling fast decision making. Right information is available to the right person at the right time.
