In SAP world, SAP client means self-contained business entity or a unit within SAP system.
Whenever you log into SAP system, you log into a specific client. Only then you can access and use the system.
SAP Client
You can create various clients within each SAP product e.g. SAP ERP, SAP CRM. SAP SCM.
The term client in SAP has a very different meaning than how this term is used in general IT. In general IT client means the device running a presentation layer.
