Besides implementing individual companies, the concept of a client can also be used for other purposes. For example a separate client could be created for testing purposes or for training purposes where users or developers could do experimentation.

Usually a company would have three separate installation of SAP:
  • Production
  • Test/Quality Assurance
  • Development

    Each installation would have multiple clients.

    Usually experimental clients are created in development and test installations.
