A company has a vision which is represented by business requirements.
Business processes are designed to achieve this vision.
For example a company has in mind to run their business in a paritcular way.
This vision is captured by "requirement gathering" process.

For example, how the invoice will arrive in Accounts Payable department (mail or electronic), who will enter the invoice in the system, what would be the frequency of paying the invoices etc.
Business processes are mapped to the functionality of the business software like SAP.
For example what screen in SAP would support the process of entering invoices.
